Transfer 13, Week 4- I can speak accents in Korean.

Hey all, I hope life is treating you well, and that things aren't too crazy or moving too fast. In recent secular news, the president of Korea was impeached a little over a week ago, so there will be another election in May. It'll be interesting to see how that turns out. If you're in the US, you know about as much as I do.

Anyway, this week was insanely fast as well. I'm blinking, and days are flying by. It's fun though.

The highlight of the week was zone conference up in 광주! It was fun to hear people's stories about their ancestors, and to be honest, I'm quite jealous because their records go so far back, and I only have a few generations, but it was a very spiritual experience for me, and I know that the Spirit of Elijah is truly something real and powerful.

On Friday I went on exchanges with Elder Hardy, and he's super fun. He was able to meet some members at an activity in Naju, and the members like him, and he likes the members, haha. :)

I love this district. It's surprising how when a whole district stays together for another transfer, there's a lot of closeness that can be felt.

I want to share something quick about repentance. I don't understand it very well because it's such an emotional process, and I'm not an emotional person when in comes to processing the world, but recently, when cleaning out the house or when cleaning out our area books, I felt the Spirit so strongly. and I felt impressed that it was God's way of telling me that that's what repentance feels like, when we organize and clean our lives and bring our lives back into simplicity, the way that God wants us to be.

I may have already shared this scripture, but I love the voice of Christ Himself proclaiming His gospel to the Nephites. 3 Nephi 29:19-21

And no unclean thing can enter into his kingdom; therefore, nothing entereth into his rest save it be those who have washed their garments in my blood, because of their faith, and the repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness unto the end.

Now this is the commandment: Repent, all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me and be baptized in my name, that ye may be sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that ye may stand spotless before me at the last day.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, this is my gospel; and ye know the things that ye must do in my church; for the 

works which ye have seen me do that shall ye also do; for that which ye have seen me do even that shall ye do.

Oh yeah, the title- So, In different parts of Korea, the accent changes- within our mission, there are two accents- one in the north, and one in the south. The Busan mission has one of its own, and Seoul in the standard in Korean.

Having served in both north and south, Koreans get a kick out of a foreigner making weird changes to their already limited Korean. Moral of the story: Love the people, embrace what they have to give, and they will love you back.

Transferencia 13, Semana 4- Puedo hablar con acento en coreano.

Hey todo, espero que la vida les esté tratando bien, y que las cosas no sean demasiado locas o que se mueven demasiado rápido. En recientes noticias seculares, la presidente de Corea fue destituida hace poco más de una semana, por lo que habrá otra elección en mayo. Será interesante ver cómo resulta eso. Si están en los Estados Unidos, saben tanto como yo.

De todos modos, esta semana fue increíblemente rápida también. Estoy parpadeando, y los días están volando. Es divertido, sin embargo.

¡El punto culminante de la semana fue la conferencia de la zona en 광주! Fue divertido escuchar las historias de las personas acerca de sus antepasados, y para ser honesto, estoy muy celoso porque sus registros se remontan tan atrás, y sólo tengo unas cuantas generaciones, pero fue una experiencia muy espiritual para mí, y sé Que el Espíritu de Elías es verdaderamente algo real y poderoso.

El viernes me fui a intercambiar con Elder Hardy, él es muy divertido. El pudo reunirse con algunos miembros en una actividad en Naju, y los miembros como él, y le gusto los miembros, jaja. :)

Me encanta este distrito. Es sorprendente cómo cuando un distrito entero se mantiene unido para otra transferencia, hay mucha cercania que puede sentirse.

Quiero compartir algo rápido acerca del arrepentimiento. No lo entiendo muy bien porque es un proceso emocional y no soy una persona emocional cuando se trata de procesar el mundo, pero recientemente, al limpiar la casa o al limpiar nuestros libros de área, sentí que Espíritu tan fuertemente. Y me sentí impresionado de que era la manera de Dios de decirme que eso es lo que se siente el arrepentimiento, cuando organizamos y limpiar nuestras vidas y traer nuestras vidas de vuelta a la simplicidad, la forma en que Dios quiere que seamos.

Es posible que ya haya compartido esta escritura, pero me encanta la voz de Cristo mismo proclamando su evangelio a los nefitas. 3 Nefi 29: 19-21

Y ninguna cosa inmunda puede entrar en su reino; Por lo tanto, nada entra en su reposo, salvo los que han lavado sus vestidos en mi sangre, por su fe, y el arrepentimiento de todos sus pecados, y su fidelidad hasta el fin.

Ahora bien, este es el mandamiento: Arrepentíos todos los términos de la tierra, y venid a mí y bautícese en mi nombre, para que seáis santificados por la acogida del Espíritu Santo, para que permanezcáis inmaculados delante de mí en el último día.

Ah sí, el título-Así que, en diferentes partes de Corea, el acento cambia-dentro de nuestra misión, hay dos acentos: uno en el norte y otro en el sur. La misión de Busan tiene una de sus propias, y Seúl en el estándar en coreano.

Habiendo servido tanto en el norte como en el sur, los coreanos reciben una patada de un extranjero haciendo cambios extraños a su ya limitado coreano. Moral de la historia: Ama a la gente, abrazar lo que tienen que dar, y te amaran de vuelta.

Transfer 13, Week 3- It was all a dream, I used to read 리아호나 magazine.

Hey, I don't have much to say. This was one of the fastest weeks of my mission. It's crazy- On Thursday we did weekly planning and it felt like the day before we had done weekly planning. Time as a missionary is quite unusual, much like a dream.

We cleaned out our area books last week, which was a tedious, time-consuming, but necessary evil, and since there doesn't seem to be a shredder anywhere in Naju, we went to a ditch at the back of our church and burned them (only because the members suggested ㅎㅎ)

On Friday I went on exchanges with Elder Hunsaker in our district- It was super fun because he entered the MTC a week after I did, so it was fun to share our similar yet vastly different experiences under both mission presidents.

On Wednesday we had an investigator come to English class, and we shared our family history fan charts and whatnot. He asked why we did all that, and we started talking about the temple and how we can help our ancestors. He really liked it, and when he saw the picture of the baptismal font in the Oquirrh Mountain temple, he said he wanted to go there. I told him how he could prepare, and when we asked him about how he understood baptism, he said "I want to be baptized". It was awesome! We weren't able to set a date, but I know he'll be ready at the time the Lord has appointed for him.

Right now we are on day 42(?) of our 58 day Book of Mormon challenge, and today we read 3 Nephi 11. I just want to share something that I read in the past few days.

Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.

What a wonderful calling it is.

Transfer 13, Semana 3 - Todo era un sueño, solía leer la revista 리아호나.

Oye, no tengo mucho que decir. Esta fue una de las semanas más rápidas de mi misión. Es una locura- El jueves hicimos la planificación semanal y nos sentimos como el día antes de haber hecho la planificación semanal. El tiempo como misionero es bastante inusual, como un sueño.

Hemos limpiado nuestros libros de área la semana pasada, que era un tiempo tedioso, pero un mal necesario, ya que no parece haber una trituradora en algun lugar de Naju, fuimos a una zanja en la parte posterior de nuestra iglesia y los quemamos (Sólo porque los miembros lo sugirieron ㅎㅎ)

El viernes fui a intercambios con el Elder Hunsaker en nuestro distrito. Fue muy divertido porque él entró en el MTC una semana después de que lo hice yo, así que fue divertido compartir nuestras experiencias similares pero muy diferentes bajo los dos presidentes de misiones.

El miércoles tuvimos un investigador que vino a la clase de inglés, y compartimos nuestras listas de fans de historia familiar y otras cosas. Él preguntó por qué hicimos todo eso, y empezamos a hablar del templo y cómo podemos ayudar a nuestros antepasados. Realmente le gustó, y cuando vio la imagen de la pila bautismal en el templo de Oquirrh Mountain, dijo que quería ir allí. Le dije cómo podía prepararse, y cuando le preguntamos cómo entendía el bautismo, dijo: "Quiero ser bautizado". ¡Fue increíble! No pudimos fijar una cita, pero sé que estará listo en el momento en que el Señor lo haya designado.

Ahora estamos en el día 42 (?) De nuestro desafío del Libro de Mormón de 58 días, y hoy leemos 3 Nefi 11. Sólo quiero compartir algo que leí en los últimos días.

He aquí, soy un discípulo de Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios. He sido llamado de él para declarar su palabra entre su pueblo, para que tengan vida eterna.

Qué maravilloso que es.

Transfer 13, Week 2- Sorry, No Title This Week

Hey all! This week was good, but I don't recall anything super eventful or crazy, so this will be short. Last week on preparation day, we went to Damyang, a city in our zone and it;s famous for bamboo, so we went to a museum and a cool bamboo forest. Enjoy the photos.

Also went on exchanges with one of the Korean elders in my district. It was fun, but he's been a little sick, so we mostly were in the house. I learned a lot though, and we translated some Korean recipes together, with is a really good time. 

I just want to share a thought from the Book of Mormon. Alma 29:6,9,14

"Now, seeing that I know these things, why should I desire more than to perform the work to which I have been called?

"I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

But I do not joy in my own success alone, but my joy is more full because of the success of my brethren..."

I don't know if you all back home (or on missions) have noticed, but Korea is not an easy place for missionary work. At the beginning of my mission, I had a hard time comparing myself to not only my fellow 대전 missionaries, but my friends all over the world, so that was a trial for me. I'm grateful that I have been able to overcome those weaknesses to some extent, and I truly rejoice to see all of you working hard and finding the elect.

The Spirit has witnessed to many missionaries, myself included, that this is the hardest mission in the world, and I'm so glad to be part of this work, and as long as I do what the Lord wills of me, I can be confident that His work is moving forward though I can't see it with my imperfect eyes.

Transferencia 13, Semana 2- Lo siento, no hay título esta semana

¡Oigan todos! Esta semana fue buena, pero no recuerdo nada estupendo o loco, así que esto será corto. La semana pasada en el día de la preparación, fuimos a Damyang, una ciudad en nuestra zona y es famosa por el bambú, así que fuimos a un museo y un bosque de bambú fresco. Disfruten de las fotos.

También fui a intercambios con uno de los Elderes Coreanos en mi distrito. Fue divertido, pero estaba un poco enfermo, así que en su mayoría estábamos en la casa. Aprendí mucho, sin embargo, y tradujimos algunas recetas coreanas juntos, por eso fue un tiempo realmente bueno.

Sólo quiero compartir un pensamiento del Libro de Mormón. Alma 29: 6,9,14

"Ahora, viendo que yo sé estas cosas, ¿por qué deseo más que realizar la obra a la que he sido llamado?

"Yo sé lo que el Señor me ha mandado, y me glorío en él. No me glorío de mí mismo, sino que me glorío en lo que el Señor me ha mandado, sí, y esta es mi gloria, que tal vez pueda ser un Instrumento en las manos de Dios para traer algo de alma al arrepentimiento, y este es mi gozo.

Pero no gozo en mi propio éxito solo, pero mi alegría es más plena debido al éxito de mis hermanos ... "

No sé si todos ustedes que han regresado a casa (o en misiones) han notado, pero Corea no es un lugar fácil para el trabajo misional. Al principio de mi misión, me costó mucho compararme no sólo con mis compañeros  misioneros, sino con mis amigos en todo el mundo, así que eso fue una prueba para mí. Estoy agradecido de haber sido capaz de superar esas debilidades hasta cierto punto, y realmente me alegro de ver a todos ustedes trabajando duro y encontrando a los elegidos.

El Espíritu ha sido testigo de muchos misioneros, incluido yo mismo, que esta es la misión más difícil del mundo, estoy muy contento de ser parte de esta obra, y mientras yo haga lo que el Señor quiere de mí, puedo estar Confiado en que su trabajo se está moviendo hacia adelante aunque no puedo verlo con mis ojos imperfectos.

Transfer 13, Week 1- When an Apostle Doesn't Come to Your Mission, But You See It All

Hello all! I'm trying to keep this short, I got nations to baptize (haha, maybe not in Korea.. anyway)

So first of all, I'ma let you know about CPR- We went to Hwasun, where we competed at the state/province level (We're Jeollanamdo). There were 13 cities/teams, and we competed against students, cops, military men, and other normal people- And the results? *drumroll*

We didn't win, but that's okay! We got a reward for trying, haha. We still were able to meet awesome people, spread the name of the church, and we actually met an older firefighter that met with missionaries forever ago, when the name of the church was different in Korean. Fun little miracles. :)

So, this week, Elder Holland of the 12 Apostles came to Korea, but only to the northern half- no, not North Korea, just Seoul and Seoul South missions. He broadcast a couple of those meetings, one for all members on Friday and one for YSA/SA on Saturday. I enjoyed them a lot- at the end of both meetings he left a blessing on our heads with his apostolic authority, as well as his strong witness of Christ. Some things that stuck out to me were words about prayer, as well as Elder Choi of the Seventy talking about how he found his wife through prayer and his mission president. My favorite things were when they talked about seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. That's one of my favorite scriptures.

Anyway, that's all I have time for, but I want to let you know that I love testifying of Christ, and His Atonement, and His example for us.

Alma 12:30 And they began from that time forth to call on his name; therefore God conversed with men, and made known unto them the plan of redemption, which had been prepared from the foundation of the world; and this he made known unto them according to their faith and repentance and their holy works.

Transferencia 13, Semana 1- Cuando un Apóstol no viene a su misión, pero usted lo ve todo.

¡Hola a todos! Estoy tratando de mantener esto corto, tengo naciones para bautizar (jaja, tal vez no en Corea .. de todos modos)

Así que en primer lugar, le haré saber sobre la competencia de CPR- Fuimos a Hwasun, donde competimos a nivel estatal / provincial (Somos Jeollanamdo). Había 13 ciudades / equipos, y competimos contra estudiantes, policías, militares y otras personas normales. ¿Y los resultados? Redoble de tambores.

¡No ganamos, pero está bien! Tenemos una recompensa por intentar, jaja. Todavía pudimos conocer gente maravillosa, difundir el nombre de la iglesia, y en realidad conocimos a un bombero mayor que se reunió con los misioneros hace años, cuando el nombre de la iglesia era diferente en coreano. Divertidos pequeños milagros. :)

Bien, esta semana, el Elder Holland de los 12 Apóstoles vino a Corea, pero sólo al norte, no a Corea del Norte, sólo a Seul y las misiones de Seúl. Transmitieron un par de esas reuniones, una para todos los miembros el viernes y otra para YSA / SA el sábado. Los disfruté mucho - al final de ambas reuniones dejó una bendición en nuestras cabezas con su autoridad apostólica, así como su fuerte testimonio de Cristo. Algunas cosas que me atrajeron fueron palabras sobre la oración, así como el élder Choi de los Setenta hablando de cómo encontró a su esposa a través de la oración y su presidente de misión. Mis cosas favoritas fueron cuando hablaron de buscar el Reino de Dios y Su justicia. Esa es una de mis escrituras favoritas.

De todos modos, eso es todo lo que tengo tiempo para, pero quiero hacerles saber que amo testificar de Cristo, y su expiación, y su ejemplo para nosotros.

Alma 12:30 Y comenzaron desde aquel tiempo a invocar su nombre; Por lo tanto, Dios conversó con los hombres, y les dio a conocer el plan de redención, que había sido preparado desde la fundación del mundo; Y esto les hizo saber según su fe y arrepentimiento y sus obras sagradas.
