Transfer 6, Week 3- You Tend To Give Talks Frequently When There Are Only 10 People

Hello all! Things are well, and I know the Lord is watching over all of us with His loving eye.

So, quick updates! Our investigator  안현빈  is doing very well. He's finished all the lessons, and now we just need to make some final preparations for his baptism. Hopefully things keep going well. And he really likes coming to church. We asked him why, and he just said, "because I like it". So, there's that, haha. :)

A recent convert turned 16 yesterday and  was interviewed to become a priest! He will soon have the opportunity to baptize his younger sister if she makes the choice to be baptized. Family really is forever. :)

Also, I gave a talk on the restoration of the priesthood. It was actually really sudden... We looked at a schedule on Saturday, and realized that I was to give a talk, so Sunday morning I prepared as diligently as I could. It went well. My Korean is a lot better than even just a transfer ago, and I can get closer to the Korean people.

So, my talk was a decent length with decent content (lots of scriptures, because scriptures speak better Korean than me). I'll just testify that not only did God restore the priesthood, His power and authority, to the earth, but he restored the chance for families to be united forever, and I am so grateful for that in my life.

By the way, a super sweet temple missionary couple came to Dangjin to visit yesterday, and the husband asked me when I was going to the temple.... Next August.. when I go home, I will be so blessed to have the opportunity to go to the Seoul temple! All you missionaries that can attend the temple, treasure every moment when you go. The temple is one of the biggest blessings from God.

Transferencia 6, Semana 3- Se tiende a dar discursos  frecuentes cuando hay sólo 10 personas.

¡Hola a todos! Las cosas están bien, y sé que el Señor cuida de todos nosotros con sus ojos de amor.

Bueno, actualizaciones  rápidas!  Nuestro investigador  안현빈  está haciéndolo  muy bien. Ha terminado todas las lecciones, y ahora sólo tenemos que hacer algunos preparativos finales para su bautismo. Con suerte las cosas seguirán así. Realmente le gusta venir a la iglesia. Le preguntamos por qué, y que acaba de decir, "porque me gusta". Por lo tanto, asi es, jaja. :)

Un recién convertido cumplió 16 años ayer y fue entrevistado para el sacerdocio!  Pronto tendrá la oportunidad de bautizar a su hermana menor si se toma la decisión de ser bautizada. La familia realmente es para siempre. :)

Además, di un discurso sobre la restauración del sacerdocio. En realidad, fue muy repentino ... Nos fijamos en el  horario el sábado, y nos dimos cuenta de que yo tenía que dar un discurso, así que el Domingo en la mañana lo preparé tan diligentemente como pude. Salió bien. Mi coreano es mucho mejor que hace incluso sólo una transferencia, y  puede estar más cerca de la gente coreana.

Por lo tanto, mi discurso era de  una longitud decente con contenido decente (un montón de escrituras, porque escrituras hablan mejor que yo el Coreano). Voy a dar mi testimonio de que Dios no sólo restauro el sacerdocio, su poder y autoridad en la tierra, pero hizo volver la posibilidad de que las familias sean unidas para siempre, y estoy muy agradecido por eso en mi vida.

Por cierto, una pareja de misioneros del templo super dulces  llegaron a Dangjin a visitar ayer, y el marido me preguntó cuando iba al templo ....el próximo ano mes de agosto .. cuando vaya  a casa, voy a ser muy afortunado de tener la oportunidad de ir al templo Seúl!  A todo los misioneros que pueden asistir al templo, atesoren cada momento cuando vallan. El templo es una de las más grandes bendiciones de Dios.

Transfer 6, Week 2- Children's day, Parent's day, Group conference

Good day to all, I hope you are well. Things are good here in Dangjin, and actually, we have an investigator with a baptismal date! He's the son of a less active that came out of the blue and was referred to us. His dad still has a hard time with attending church due to work (Work schedules are extremely hard in Korea), but his son has come out a couple times and has a date set for the 12th of June to be baptized! He's very smart, very receptive to our message, and seems like he will easily continue to progress after baptism as well. He asks a lot of questions, makes good and witty comments as we teach or during church. He also seems to be a worrisome kid. He always expresses concerns about life, but with the gift of the Holy Ghost, he should easily recognize the comfort that will come into his life.

So, the title of the email is "Children's Day, Parents' Day, Group Conference"

Children's day is on May 5th, Cinco de Mayo. It's a day for kids, they do lots of fun activities and stuff.

Parent's day is on May 8th. They don't celebrate Mother's and Father's day separately, and it's always on the same day. It just happened that it was the same day as Mother's day! :) Lovely coincidences.

By the way, skyping on Mother's day was the best. Because of time differences I called on Monday here, so I couldn't send an email last week. I love my mom, and I know that families are forever.

Group conference- Just like branch or ward conference, it was a special meeting. We had 21 people come out, so not the 30 we hoped for, but all the people that came were absolutely wonderful. Our mission president came, and he taught for a bit. He really knows the scriptures, it's the coolest thing.

A previous mission president came to visit Dangjin! His name is President Nemrow, and he's the best. He actually with our current mission president's wife in Korea back in 1973 as a missionary. President Shin also taught him Taekwondo back in Utah long ago. Small world, right?

Un presidente de misión anterior vino a visitar Dangjin! Su nombre es Presidente Nemrow, él es super. En realidad con la esposa de nuestro presidente actual misión en Corea en 1973 como misionero. Presidente Shin también le enseñó Taekwondo en Utah hace mucho tiempo. Un mundo pequeño, ¿verdad?

Transferencia 6, Semana 2- Día de los niños, Día de los padres y conferencia del Grupo.

Buenos días a todos, espero que estén  bien.  Las cosas están bien aquí en Dangjin, y, de hecho, tenemos un investigador con una fecha de bautismo! Él es el hijo de un menos activo que salió de la nada y nos lo refirió a nosotros.  Su padre todavía tiene un tiempo duro con la asistencia a la iglesia por motivos de trabajo (horarios de trabajo son extremadamente difíciles en Corea),  pero su hijo ha asistido un par de veces y tiene una fecha establecida para el 12 de junio para ser bautizado! Es muy inteligente, muy receptivos a nuestro mensaje, y parece que va a seguir progresando fácilmente después del bautismo también.  Él hace muchas preguntas, hace comentarios buenos e ingeniosos al enseñar o durante la iglesia. También parece ser un niño preocupando, El siempre expresa preocupación acerca de la vida, pero con el don del Espíritu Santo, él deberá  reconocer fácilmente la comodidad que traerá en su vida.

Bueno, el título del email es "Día del Niño, Día de los Padres, Conferencia del Grupo"

El día de los niños es el 5 de mayo. Es un día para los niños, que hacen un montón de actividades divertidas y cosas así.

El día del padre es el 8 de mayo. Ellos no celebran el día de la madre y el padre de forma separada, y siempre en el mismo día. Simplemente ocurrió que era el mismo día como el día de la Madre! :) Coincidencias preciosas.

Por cierto, la video llamada el día de la madre fue lo mejor.  Debido a las diferencias de tiempo  llamé el lunes aquí, así que no pude enviar un correo electrónico la semana pasada. Quiero a mi madre, y sé que las familias son para siempre.

Grupo de conferencia  igual que conferencia de rama o barrio, fue una reunión especial. Tuvimos 21 personas de las 30 que esperábamos,  pero todas las personas que vinieron eran absolutamente maravillosa.  Nuestro presidente de la misión vino, y enseñó un poco. Él conoce las escrituras, es la cosa más chevere.

Así que eso es todo lo que tengo que decir por ahora, Te amo todos y espero que puedan sentir el amor de Dios, así! Ten una maravillosa semana.

Transfer 5, Week 6- "When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May", and Transfer Calls

Hello! I'm going to be quick, but we just got transfer calls! I'm staying in Dangjin with Elder Ha Minsu! It'll be good, I'm excited for the next transfer.

It's very warm here, but since we're next to the sea, the wind comes in and it gets cold at night. It's impossible to dress for this weather. Haha.

So, mother's day is coming up, and I want to give a shout out to la madre de mi vida (the mother of my life). Alma chapter 56, verse 47-48 always have a special place in my heart. My mother taught me well, and I do not doubt her teachings whatsoever, for I know that she knows God lives, loves and guides us.

Korea has a really interesting religious culture. Christianity is EVERYWHERE. Imagine Utah with all the LDS churches, but way more than that, and they are all different sects. It's crazy, but not as much in Dangjin because it's not as developed as other cities. Nevertheless, Buddhism is very prominent here and many people don't know about God. I can't imagine what it's like to live throughout life and not have a loving hand guide me and lift me up when I fall down.

I testify that God lives. He sent His son Jesus Christ in an act of supreme, unequaled love to save us and help us be eternally happy.

Transferencia 5, Semana 6: "Cuando hace frío fuera, Ya tengo el mes de mayo", y  llamadas de transferencia.

¡Hola! Voy a ser rápido, pero acabo de recibir las llamadas de transferencia! Me voy a quedar en Dangjin con el Elder Ha Minsu! Será bueno, estoy emocionado por la próxima transferencia.

Está  muy caliente aquí, pero ya que estamos al lado del mar, el viento entra y hace frío por la noche. Es imposible vestirse para este clima. Jaja.

Bueno, el día de la madre se acerca, y quiero dar un agradecimiento a la Madre de mi vida. Alma capítulo 56, verso 47-48 siempre tienen un lugar especial en mi corazón. Mi madre me enseñó bien, y no me cabe duda alguna de sus enseñanzas, porque yo sé que ella sabe Dios vive, ama y nos guía.

Corea tiene una cultura religiosa muy interesante. El cristianismo está en todas partes. Imagínese Utah con todas las iglesias LDS, pero mucho más que eso, y todos ellas son diferentes sectas. Es una locura, pero no tanto en Dangjin porque no está tan desarrollada como otras ciudades. Sin embargo, el budismo es muy importante aquí, y muchas personas no saben acerca de Dios. No me puedo imaginar lo que es vivir toda la vida sin una mano cariñosa  guiando  y  levantándome cuando caigo.

Doy testimonio de que Dios vive. Él envió a su hijo Jesucristo en un acto de amor supremo, sin igual para salvarnos y ayudarnos a ser eternamente feliz.

Transfer 5, Week 5- I don't have a title, Sorry.

Good day everyone! I don't have a lot to say. This week was good. We have a lot of investigators, and we are helping them progress to baptism little by little. It's wonderful.

 

So, we actually tried to set a baptismal date with someone, but the children were so rowdy that the atmosphere wasn't right for her to accept. It's okay, we'll try again.

 

Also, my companion really likes focusing on member missionary work. It really does work, and there are blessings when everyone contributes to the building of the kingdom of God. My style here is strengthen the members. Since there are only about 10 regular members here in Dangjin, in order to have a strong branch in the future, we need to have a strong basis of members, and if they are strong, the people they invite to come unto Christ can be strengthened quicker and more miracles can be seen. I love the members here. They have inspired me to be a missionary my whole life, even when I can't wear the missionary name tag.

 

So, that's all I have to say. God is good, He loves you all, and the Book of Mormon is true. I feel closer to God every time I read it.

Transferencia  5, Semana 5- No tengo un título, lo siento.

¡Buen día a todos! No tengo mucho que decir. Esta semana fue buena. Tenemos una gran cantidad de investigadores, y estamos ayudándolos  a progresar al bautismo poco a poco. Es maravilloso.

También, intentamos  fijar una fecha de bautismo con alguien, pero los niños estaban tan ruidoso que el ambiente no era el adecuado para que ella aceptara. Está bien, vamos a tratar de nuevo.

También, mi compañera  realmente le gusta centrarse en el trabajo misional de los miembros. Realmente funciona, y hay bendiciones cuando todo el mundo contribuye a la construcción del reino de Dios. Mi estilo aquí es fortalecer los miembros. Dado que sólo hay alrededor de 10 miembros regulares aquí en Dangjin, con el fin de tener una rama fuerte en el futuro, tenemos que tener una sólida base de miembros, y si son fuertes, las personas que inviten  a venir a Cristo pueden ser fortalecida más rápido  y más milagros  pueden ser vistos.  Me encanta los miembros aquí. Ellos me han inspirado a ser un misionero toda mi vida, incluso cuando no pueda llevar mi placa de misionero.

Por lo tanto, eso es todo lo que tengo que decir. Dios es bueno, Él los ama a todos, y el Libro de Mormón es verdadero. Me siento más cerca de Dios cada vez que lo leo.
