Hello all, I would like to apologize for the late email. Today Some of the elders in our zone went to Gongju to this sick fortress with the Baekje festival on the side. This festival celebrates Baekje, one of the kingdoms in ancient Korea. I don't know too much about Korean history, but it's really interesting, so you should definitely take a look.
This last weekend there was another festival in my area (Ppuri park) called the Hyo filial piety festival. There are tons of statues that represent the origins of Korean family names (Kim, Lee, Park, etc.) with a beautiful landscape as well. There's a genealogy museum as well, so we planned to proselyte and hand out family history pamphlets and whatnot. It was super fun, we got phone numbers and were able to testify about God's plan for us and our families.
Fun fact: Koreans keep extremely good records of their ancestors going back even hundreds if not thousands of years- it's just commonplace to them since they are a Confucianism society that reveres ancestors. However, when you go back far enough, the records are written in Chinese characters, making it difficult for Koreans to read. Indexing must be an interesting experience... Haha.
Family History is extremely important, and I testify that as we reach upward to our ancestors, God will pour down blessings on our families, now and through the generations. So that's my spiritual thought: Malachi 4:6.
"And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."

The next few pictures are pictures of missionaries proselyting at the festival, with a giant church the size of an LDS temple included. The last pictures are pictures of going to Gongju, with my MTC buddy Elder Benefiel and I sharing a friendly rivalry :)

Hola a todos, me gustaría pedir disculpas por el retraso de mi email. Hoy Algunos de los Elderes en nuestra zona fueron a Gongju a esta fortaleza enferma con el festival de Baekje en el lateral. Este festival celebra Baekje, uno de los reinos de la antigua Corea. No sé demasiado acerca de la historia de Corea, pero es muy interesante, por lo que deberían echar un vistazo.
Este último fin de semana hubo otra fiesta en mi área (parque Ppuri) lo llaman el festival piedad filial Hyo. Hay un montón de estatuas que representan los orígenes de los apellidos de Corea (Kim, Lee, Park, etc.) con un hermoso paisaje también. Hay un museo de la genealogía, así, así que planeamos hacer proselitismo y repartir panfletos de historia familiar y otras cosas. Fue super divertido, obtuvimos numeros de teléfonos y pudimos atestiguar sobre el plan de Dios para nosotros y nuestras familias.
Dato curioso: los coreanos guardan muy buenos registros de sus antepasados que se remontan incluso a cientos, si no miles de años- es sólo un lugar común para ellos, ya que son una sociedad confuciana que veneran a sus antepasados. Sin embargo, cuando se va hacia atrás lo suficiente, los registros están escritos en caracteres chinos, lo que hace difícil para los coreanos de leer. La indexación debe ser una experiencia interesante ... Haha.
La historia familiar es extremadamente importante, y testifico que a medida que se dirigen hacia arriba a nuestros antepasados, Dios derramará bendiciones sobre nuestras familias, ahora y hasta las generaciones. Así que ese es mi pensamiento espiritual:
Malaquías 4: 6.
"El hará volver el corazón de los padres hacia los hijos, y el corazón de los hijos hacia los padres, no sea que yo venga y hiera la tierra con maldición."

Las últimas imágenes son imágenes de ir a Gongju, con mi amigo MTC Elder Benefiel y yo compartiendo una rivalidad amistosa :)
